István Csicserics, the authorized units’ spokesperson told the Independent News Agency that the cigarette smuggler is the one who reported the two police officers and whose Ukraine trustee asked the driver to bring a larger shipment of cigarettes to Budapest through the easten border.
The small truck was stopped by police near Gödöllő and the driver was told to get off at the next exit. The police unpacked 4000 cartons of cigarettes from the truck in an abandoned location and took 840 thousand forint cash from the driver. The smuggler was released unharmed. The police are having their homes searched at the present time and the they will also be questioned on Wednesday.
